Veterans Healing Farm is searching for a new home

Facing the end of its lease on its current site, Veterans Healing Farm is seeking a new location.

Established 11 years ago in Horse Shoe, the mission of the organization is to enhance the mental, emotional and physical well-being of military veterans and their families.

“This is an incredible opportunity," Executive Director Alan Yeck said. "Our non-profit has set itself up for success in the last few years by focusing on board development, program expansion, strengthening internal operations and creating new community collaborations. We are strong, making a meaningful difference in the lives of our veterans, and we are ready to take on this new challenge and improve our services.”

With the current land lease expiring on Aug. 15, a committee made of board members and supporters has been established to explore new land options. The criteria that must be met include:

  • Property of 12-plus acres to accommodate current needs and future expansion plans.
  • Ground that is suitable and level for 3 to 5 acres of farming operations.
  • An adequately functioning potable well or access to city water.
  • A reliable and consistent water supply for farming operations that would need to be separate from the city water.
  • Property must be situated in Henderson County.
  • Proximity to highways or main roads to enhance community participation.
  • Access to electricity and sewer (or suitable for septic field) to support farming operations.
  • Reliable cell phone reception and network connection on the property are necessary.

Assistance from the community is needed and requested. Please contact Alan Yeck at 828-595-6111 if you would like to be on the search committee or if you have an opportunity that should be explored.
