Maxon scores 150th goal as Falcons win battle of unbeatens

West struck first when Sarah Hughes delivered a crisp pass to Allison Justus near the corner, who crossed the ball to Lauren Clonch for a left-footed shot that found the net for a 1-0 Falcon lead. Reynolds came roaring back with two goals of their own in the first half, leaving West Henderson to regroup during the break.
West defenders stiffened their resistance in the second half, holding the Rockets scoreless. With Reynolds still up 2-1, West's Emery Sprouse shot a pass to Maxon, who beat a defender and the Rockets' goalkeeper for an open net goal — the 150th goal of Maxon's stellar career.
The game-winner came with less than 3 minutes remaining in the contest. A corner kick by Maxon found a streaking Sarah Hughes in front of the net, who finished for the undefeated Falcons. West's 3-2 comeback win was sealed when freshman goalkeeper Ellie Collier made a save with seconds remaining on the clock.
