Starting this week, UNC Health Pardee Sports Medicine will once again provide sports physicals for local student-athletes, serving 23 middle and high schools across the region.
Physicals will take place from May 5 through June 1. To participate in school athletics, student-athletes are required by state law to receive an annual physical to help ensure their health and safety.
“Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for student-athletes to get the care they need to participate safely in sports,” said Dwayne Durham, director of Pardee Sports Medicine. “By bringing these physicals directly to schools, we’re able to support families, reduce barriers to access, and help students stay active and healthy.”
Registration forms are available through school coaches or front offices. Each student-athlete must bring a completed form with a parent or guardian signature on the day of the physical. Costs vary by school, and families will receive details through school communications, including websites, newsletters, or email. Certified health care providers will conduct all physicals, and schools will ensure student privacy during exams.
