A landowner is seeking the city's OK to construct 18 dwellings in two multi-family buildings on a half-acre lot in the 300 block of First Avenue West, city planners announced.
Applicant Sarah McCormick of Peacock Architects and property owner Rafique Charania, of Asheville-based ARY Development LLC, requested a zoning change to allow the construction of multifamily residential buildings. The rezoning request also shows that 19 parking spaces would be provided on the site, which is across the street from the First Church of the Nazarene. City planners will host a neighborhood compatibility meeting on the request at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 6, in the City Operations Center, 305 Williams St.
The current owner bought the vacant .57-acre lot for $255,000 in March, land records show. It's valued on the tax books at $223,500.
