City planners will host a neighborhood compatibility meeting at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, on a rezoning application to allow for the construction of 63 townhome units on 6.33 acres on Brooklyn Avenue a quarter mile east of Spartanburg Highway.
Developer Zachary Grogan of MPG Shelby LLC and the landowners have applied for a rezoning fom R-15 Medium Density Residential to UR CZD Urban Residential Conditional Zoning District. The, made up of parcels at in the 900 block of Brooklyn Avenue owned by Eugene S. Holbert, Edgar M. Holbert, and Wanda H. and John T. Ponder, contains a dilapidated trailer and abandoned house. The public meeting, which allows a rezoning applicant to describe the proposed development and neighboring homeowners to ask questions, will take place at the City Operations Center, 305 Williams St.
