Parkway chief to keynote annual Sandburg meeting

Phil Francis, the Superintendent of the National Park Service's Blue Ridge Parkway, will be guest speaker when the Friends of Carl Sandburg at Connemara holds its annual meeting on Friday, April 12, at 2 p.m. at the Flat Rock Village Hall in Flat Rock. The public is welcome to attend.

Francis has served in this position since 2005, and will be speaking about the relationship between the Parkway and Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site. The two organizations have cooperated in several administrative and program categories over the years.
A native of Shelby, Francis attended Kings Mountain High School and graduated from Clemson University with a degree in administrative management. Phil is married to Becky Nichols, a scientist employed by Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
The Friends of Carl Sandburg at Connemara supports Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site's diverse and growing educational programming for youth, school groups and the visiting public.
