A contractor will close a short stretch of I-26 near the Green River bridge on Sunday night through Thursday night, the NCDOT announced.
Crews from Flatiron-Dragados Construction will close the outside lane of I-26 East starting 7 p.m. Sunday night in order to safely build shoulder berm gutter, install new guardrail and pave a section near the Green River bridge. The lane is scheduled to open by 7 a.m. on Friday morning to allow free-flowing traffic over the weekend. No daytime closures are permitted on Fridays or weekends. The work is part of a $27 million project to widen and rehabilitate the Green River bridge. Engineers anticipate completing all operations by late fall.
