Turkey Trot 5K takes off on Thanksgiving

The 13th annual Turkey Trot 5K in Hendersonville on Thanksgiving this year will support the work of the Hope Coalition.


Presented by Hunter Subaru, the Turkey Trot offers runners, walkers, trotters, people interested in dressing up in costumes and even pets the chance to support local families, according to organizers.
The race kicks off at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 27 at the First Citizens Plaza on Main Street. Participants will then make their way through downtown Hendersonville before looping back to the plaza. Runners and walkers should plan to be off the course by 10:30 a.m., organizers said.
The race goes on rain, shine or snow. Participants are encouraged to dress for the weather.
Organizers also encourage participants to have fun showing off Thanksgiving-themed costumes. Fun prizes will be awarded for Fastest Male, Fastest Female, Best Costume, Best Pet Costume and Farthest Traveled.
Race packet pickup times and locations include:
• Packet Pickup, Wednesday, Nov. 26, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Hope Coalition Recovery Community Center, 225 S. Grove St., Hendersonville
• Race Day Packet Pickup, Thursday, Nov. 27, 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. At the race start, First Citizens Plaza, 539 N. Main Street, Hendersonville. Packet pickup ends promptly at 8:30 a.m. and unclaimed packets may be sold after 8:45 a.m. on race day.
