Eastern part of county could get layer of ice tonight

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory forecasting the possibility of a thin layer of ice tonight. The warning of freezing rain is from 7 tonight to 10 a.m. Tuesday.

"The ice accumulation potential will be mainly over the eastern parts of Buncombe and Henderson counties, east of Swannanoa, Fairview, and Edneyville to the Blue Ridge Escarpment," the NWS said. "No ice accumulation is expected in Asheville and Hendersonville at this time."

The forecast calls for a 100 percent chance of precipitation tonight and 80 percent Tuesday. The high was expected to reach 49 on Tuesday, 46 on Wednesday and 48 on Thursday. There's a chance of rain and snow before 8 a.m. Friday.
