The Hendersonville Kiwanis Club honored four law officers and a Hendersonville police department parking administrator for service that demonstrates “caring and sharing.”
Named in honor of longtime Kiwanian Morris Kaplan, the Caring & Sharing Award was established in 1996 by club member and then-Sheriff George Erwin to honor law officers who serve with integrity, contribute to civic life and exhibit a caring attitude.
Doug Dunlap, who coordinates the law enforcement awards, read from the commendations submitted by the winners’ supervisors.
The 2026 Caring & Sharing Award recipients:
- Laurel Park Police Officer Brandon Maynard takes his responsibilities seriously and can always be counted on to be there when it matters most. Serving a community that spans just 2.8 square miles, Maynard has made a significant impact —making 66 arrests, the majority involving DWI offenses. His work ethic, professionalism, and commitment to public safety make him an invaluable asset to Laurel Park, and a deserving recipient of the recognition
- Henderson County Sheriff’s Detective Joseph Tulloch is known for his tireless dedication to the safety and well-being of the community. A graduate of Western Carolina University, he has continued to strengthen his expertise through numerous certifications and advanced training. Beyond his official duties, he gives back in meaningful ways, including stepping in as Santa to bring joy and connection to local youth, showing that service extends far beyond the badge.
- Fletcher Police Officer Richard “Gibby” Gibbard is known for being consistently upbeat and always willing to step in and fill gaps whenever needed within the department. He excels in interactions with the community, with public relations being one of his greatest strengths. His approachable nature and genuine care for others have made him well-loved and respected by those he serves.
- Hendersonville Police Parking Supervisor Kristen Narron was honored for her exceptional service to both the department and the community. While her professional role focuses on parking enforcement, Kristen dedicates countless hours of her personal time to community engagement. She has played a key role in planning police employee events, fundraising for the Special Olympics and working with local businesses to secure donations and strengthen community partnerships for National Night Out.
- State Highway Patrol Trooper John W. Creasman consistently exceeds expectations, not only through his work in the field but also by mentoring fellow officers and helping develop the next generation of professionals in the Highway Patrol. A graduate of Brevard College, Creasman exemplifies dedication and professionalism in every aspect of his role. Beyond his duties, Trooper Creasman is deeply involved in the community, further demonstrating his commitment to service both on and off the road, as when he volunteered to escort the Brevard High School football team to the state championship gave in December.
