Dana man and woman charged with 8 counts of animal cruelty

A man and woman were each charged with one felony and seven misdemeanor counts of cruelty to animals, a misdemeanor count of child abuse and misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest after Henderson County's animal enforcement deputies investigating a report found a dog and several cats in poor condition on Nov. 1, the sheriff's office said.

Joshua Jeffrey Spires, 39, and Shannon Quinn Bergeron, 48, of Crestview Hills Lane in Dana. Officers took the dog for treatment at an emergency care veterinary clinic. Spires and Bergeron were in custody at the Henderson County jail. The sheriff's office news release and court records contained no further details on the animal cruelty or child abuse charges.
