Former NFL player to speak at Rotary

Dan Benish, who played on Clemson's 1981 national championship team and then in the NFL, will speak at the Hendersonville Rotary Club on Tuesday, May 28.
Growing up in a small town in Ohio, Benish always dreamed of a professional football career, even when classmates, coaches and his own family members didn't think it was a possibility. He overcame the odds to star at Clemson, and again when he spent six years in the NFL despite being undrafted. He played for the Atlanta Falcons and the Super Bowl champion Washington Redskins, in 1988, joining an elite group of players who own a college and NFL championship ring.
After retiring from the NFL he earned a masters in business from Clemson and after he was victimized by identify theft, he founded CORE ID Services, based in Roswell, Ga.
Benish's message of "Why Not Me?" chronicles hardships and successes both on and off the field, and reminds the audience that anything is possible with hard work and determination.
