DOT work to close Howard Gap Road for two days

RALEIGH – The N.C. Department of Transportation will close Howard Gap Road at Blooming Laurel Drive in Fletcher starting at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 13, to install a pipe culvert. The road is scheduled to reopen by 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 15.

During the closure, the signed detour route will be along Naples Road, U.S. 25 and Brookside Camp Road.

The work is part of a $9.3 million contract to widen Howard Gap Road from Jackson Road in Fletcher to just south of Brookside Camp Road in Henderson County. Project contractor is Tennoca Construction Co. of Candler.

NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
