Road project will close part of Howard Gap

FLETCHER — The N.C. DOT will close part of Howard Gap Road north of Patty's Chapel Road and Sweet Water Oats Road in Fletcher while crews install new drainage and regrade a section of the Howard Gap.

Work will begin at 7 a.m. on Monday, July 7, and is expected to last until late July. A detour will route traffic onto Patty's Chapel Road and Jackson Road to avoid the construction area.

The work is a part of the $9.3 million contract with Tennoca Construction Co. to widen Howard Gap Road from Jackson Road to just south of Brookside Road.
