Howard Gap section to close for two weeks
The NC Department of Transportation on Monday will close Howard Gap Road from Brookside Camp Road to Naples Road in Fletcher. The two-week closure is necessary to lower the existing grade of a section of Howard Gap Road that is approximately one-fifth mile north of Brookside Camp Road between the two intersections of Whispering Hills Drive.
The one-tenth mile segment will close at 7 a.m. and remain closed until Sunday, Sept. 21.
A signed detour will be in place advising motorists to take Brookside Camp Road to U.S. 25, and then Naples Road back to Howard Gap Road.
The work is part of a $9.3 million contract to widen Howard Gap Road from Jackson Road in Fletcher to just south of Brookside Road in Henderson County. Tennoca Construction Co. of Candler is the project contractor.
