Horizon names 15 winners of grants

In partnership with the Community Foundation of Henderson County, Horizon Heating & Air Conditioning has announced the winners of grants to non-profits of $500 or $1,000 during 2015.

Horizon set up the charitable giving program for 2015 to distribute $1000 each month to a Henderson County non-profit organization The fund was made possible with proceeds from 2014.

"The residents of Henderson County have embraced Horizon," Horizon president Dan Poeta said in a news release. "We felt this would be a great way to give back to our community and we are really looking forward to delivering checks this year. There were some wonderful local leaders who served on the selection committee; I thank them for their time, effort and guidance selecting the 2015 recipients,"

The recipients for 2015 will be:

  • January---- Interfaith Assistance Ministry (IAM) $1000.
  • February---- Homes for Youth / Feed the Kids Coalition $500 each
  • March---- Shriners Hospitals for Children, Hendersonville / St. John in the Wilderness Backpack Program $500 each
  • April---- Helping Hand Developmental Center $1000.
  • May--- Hands On! A Child's Gallery $1000.
  • June--- Vocational Solutions of Henderson County $1000.
  • July--- Big Brothers Big Sisters of Henderson County $1000.
  • August--- St. Gerard House $1000.
  • September--- Thrive $1000.
  • October--- Children and Family Resource Center $1000.
  • November--- The Storehouse $1000.
  • December--- Carolina Mountain Land Conservancy / The Healing Place $500 each

There are a handful of applicants, not listed here, that Horizon plans to sponsor with specific events later this year.
