A full line-up of local celebrities has signed up to model summer fashions to help Interfaith Assistance Ministry raise funds to purchase clothing for some of Henderson County’s most vulnerable children.
Reservations to attend IAM’s 2nd annual Hendo Celebrity Fashion Show and Tea at the Hendersonville Country Club are $45 a person or you can reserve a table of 10 for $450 by calling IAM at 828-697-7029 or on the website, www.iam-hc.org. Funds raised at this event will be used to purchase new clothing and shoes for children whose families cannot afford new school clothing. Last year’s fashion show sold out quickly and provided clothing for several hundred elementary, middle school and high school students.
“This is a great opportunity to give back to those who need help in our community and to enjoy a late afternoon high tea and fashion show at the same time,” says Elizabeth Willson Moss, IAM’s executive director. “Volunteers in our clothing closet help children whose clothes no longer fit, are wearing shoes with holes in them, mismatched shoes or flip flops in cold weather. It’s hard to start school in ill-fitting or tattered clothing.”
Hendo Celebrity Fashion Show will feature a preview of summer clothing for women, men and children from some of Hendersonville’s most popular clothing retailers: Belk, Bonworth, Joseph Laughter Clothier, Mast General Store, The Sanctuary, Talbots and even IAM’s clothing closet. Celebrity models include Flat Rock Playhouse starring actor and director Scott Treadway, Blue Ridge Community College President Dr. Laura Leatherwood, Hendersonville Mayor Barbara Volk, McCray Benson, president and CEO of the Community Foundation of Henderson County, and other surprise models.
Attendees will enjoy high tea cuisine and cold beverages and participate in a contest to see who can identify the correct clothier for each model. Prizes will be awarded to the top five winners.
