$1 billion coal plant conversion to create 800 jobs

In a $1 billion investment that will bring hundreds of construction jobs to the area, Duke Energy announced today that it will retire its Lake Julian coal-fired plant and replace it with a 650-megawatt natural gas-fired power plant and solar generating facility.
