Peter Barr will talk about his Appalachial Trail thru-hike on Wednesday.

Hiker, author and Carolina Mountain Land Conservancy Trails and Outreach Coordinator Peter Barr will present a slideshow movie on his Appalachian Trail thru-hike, 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, at the Henderson County Public Library Kaplan Auditorium, 301 N. Washington St.

The free event is part of the CMLC’s Speaker Series. Barr hiked the Appalachian Trail in 2010, before joining the CMLC staff. His hike included 100 miles of side-trips to peaks, waterfalls, views, and other points of interest. His movie slideshow of photos and video set to music features highlights from his 161-day adventure.

Barr has hiked all 900 miles of trails in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, reached the highest point in 40 U.S. states and all 100 North Carolina counties, and climbed the highest 200 peaks in the Southern Appalachians. His thru-hike raised funds to restore the Shuckstack fire tower on the Appalachian Trail.
