Sheriff invites 5th graders to name new K9s

The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office is inviting Henderson County fifth grade STAR students to suggest names for the two newest K9 members of the force.

The two female bloodhounds are around 10 weeks old and will be trained to locate missing persons and track suspects. K9 handlers and School Resource Officers have called on Henderson County fifth grade students in the STAR (Sheriffs Teaching Abuse Resistance) program to suggest names for the two new tracking hounds.

The winning names will be selected later this month and will be announced in early February. The students with the winning entries and their classmates will have the opportunity to meet the dog they named at a special presentation.
