Twenty food trucks lined up for Oskar Blues festival

CRAB CREEK — Craft beer and food lovers will have 20 food trucks to choose during Oskar Blues Brewery’s Loaded Up & Truckin’ Food Truck and Music Festival April 16 and 17 at its Reeb Ranch campground near DuPont State Forest.

Besides Oskar Blues’ full lineup of craft beer, the food trucks will offer everything from Korean tacos to barbecue to Peruvian fusion fare.

“We’ve got about 20 food trucks now,” said Aaron Baker, Oskar Blues marketing and events manager. “There’s basically two levels. A $30 ticket will get you in and you can purchase food from all the trucks and purchase beer. A $60 ticket gets you in and each food truck will make a specific small plate to be judged. We’re calling that a tasting ticket or judging ticket.” (Tasting-ticket holders also must purchase beer.)
The tasters will sample the plates from food trucks and then vote for their favorite.
“This is the first time we’ve done it anywhere,” Baker said of the food truck competition. “All the food trucks are excited about it. Oskar Blues has a long history with food. We started out as a restaurant and we operate five restaurants in Colorado. We have our food truck here and we’re getting a second food truck.”
“There’s an amazing variety — everything from traditional like tacos, there’s several barbecue options, there’s a Korean taco truck. There’s one called Farm to Fender, playing off farm to fork. There’s going to be vegetarian options.”
Food trucks include Amazing Pizza Co., Appalachian Chic Food Truck, Appalachian Smoke BBQ, Blue Smoke BBQ, Chameleon Catering and Mobile Food Co., Doc Brown’s BBQ, El Kimchi, Farm to Fender, Grateful Roots, Melt Your Heart, Latino Heat, Out of the Blue Peruvian Fusion Cuisine, the Real Food Truck, Root Down, Smash Box Mobile Kitchen, Taste and See, Underground Baking Co. and Vieux Carre.
Bands are Shovels and Ropes, Futurebirds, Danger Muffin, Aaron Burdett, Sally & George and Pretty Little Goat.
