Mike's on Main owner honored as 'Main Street Champion'

Patty Adamic, owner of Mike’s On Main in downtown Hendersonville, was named a Main Street Champion at the 2016 North Carolina Main Street Conference in Goldsboro.

"Patty’s recognition is a good reminder of the behind-the-scenes efforts that make Hendersonville such a great place," the city of Hendersonville said in a news release. "Patty was recognized as a tireless advocate, business owner and volunteer who consistently puts the success of the downtown district at the forefront.

"This past year has seen Patty contributing to our City’s Special Event Policy, helping us refine how we work with organizations on street closures while minimizing the negative impacts of those events on merchants, hosting entertainment for the district at Mike’s on Main and volunteering as the Head Cashier for a double shift at the busiest ticket booth at the Rhythm & Brews monthly concert series. So the next time you’re enjoying Rhythm & Brews, the Bear Auction or the Antique & Vintage Show (and we do hope you will!), take a moment to thank a volunteer."

Downtown Hendersonville was also received an “Award of Merit” from the NC Main Street Center for “Best Special Event or Event Series” for last year’s “Downtown Designer Showcase.” Chosen by a panel of independent judges, the year’s winners were selected from dozens of applications submitted by Main Street participants throughout the state. The Designer Showcase required a variety of disparate parties to come together, each with a slightly different angle on the value of the project for themselves but with a common interest in seeing the second floor of a traditional downtown commercial building transformed into a showplace for downtown living.

The Designer Showcase team and award winners included the Downtown Hendersonville Advisory Committee, committee members Marty Payton and Michele Sparks and Committee staff Downtown Economic Development Director Lew Holloway and Promotions Coordinator Dalleen Jackson.
