Greenway gets blue light emergency phones

If there's trouble on the Oklawaha Greenway, help is nearby in the form of five new emergency phones.

After receiving a grant from NCDOT, the city installed the blue light emergency phones along the Oklawaha Greenway, which runs 3.5 miles from Jackson Park to Berkeley Mills Park. The phones are designed to be used for dialing 911 in an emergency situation. Each phone has a single button interface that connects to 911 operators. The phones are currently operational. Fire, police, EMS and rescue personnel have met to plan response actions to emergency calls.
