Here's winners of the apple displays

Wells Fargo won the Judge's Choice Award for apple displays.

The North Carolina Apple Festival named the top apple-themed window displays in four categories on Friday.

Sponsored by the Hendersonville Merchants & Business Association and the Apple Country Engine and Tractor Association, the window display contest honors businesses in four categories: restaurants, thrift stores, retail merchants and banks.The overall Judge's Choice went to Wells Fargo Bank, Apple Festival board member and Tractor Association President Larry Phillips said.

Here are the winners:

• Restaurants: first place, Piggy's & Harry's, for its vintage Apple Festival T-shirt display; third place, Three-Chopt; third place, Kilwin's.
• Thrift stores: first place, Four Seasons Resale Store; second place, Blue Ridge Humane Society.
• Retail merchants: first place, Emma's Baby Boutique; second place, Moonshine & Magnolias; third place, Goldcrafters by Rudy.
• Banks: first place, Wells Fargo; second place, Carolina Alliance; third place, First Citizens Bank, Main Street.

In the Historic Courthouse, the Heritage Museum has a display of the Apple Festival queens and Apple Ambassadors from the festival's history and the King and Queen crowns from decades ago, Phillips noted.
