A fourth Democrat files for Congressional seat

The Democratic primary for the 11th Congressional District, which becomes an open seat next year's election, is getting crwoded.

Michael Greer O'Shea, a music recording engineer who lists an Asheville post office box as his mailing address, filed for the seat on Wednesday, one day before U.S. Rep. Mark Meadows announced he won't seek re-election.

"I’m disappointed that I won’t get to send Mark Meadows into forced retirement, but this campaign was never about that," O'Shea said on his Facebook page. "It’s about a platform that works best for the working folks of WNC because elections are about what you’re going to do for the people you represent, not who you’re running against."

O'Shea kicked off his campaign to "send a truly progressive voice to Congress to represent NC-11" on Wednesday night at the Grey Eagle Music Hall in Asheville.
