Sheriff's office launches smart phone app

Henderson County Sheriff Lowell Griffin announced the release of his office's smart-phone app, which provides local news, crime and traffic alerts, emergency messages and information about crimes and sex offenders.

The app also serves as a place where community members can submit victim notifications, comments and tips. Included with the new app is an employee directory to allow citizens to easily contact officers via phone or email. It also includes links to make comments, inmate information, most wanted, registered sex offender location, come mapping and conceal-carry permit forms.

The enhanced two-way communication will keep residents and tourists safer, better-informed and constantly connected with the Henderson County Sheriff’s Department, Griffin said in a news release. No personal information will ever be collected and no signup is required. The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office app can be downloaded free in the iPhone App Store and Google Play.
