Salvation Army closing its Brooklyn Avenue thrift store

The Salvation Army of Hendersonville is closing its Family Thrift Store at 707 Brooklyn Avenue on March 14 after its annual lease was not renewed. A  thrift store will reopen as soon as a new location is secured, the agency said in a news release.

“We apologize for the break in service and will serve people in the community through our thrift store operations as soon as possible,” said Major Brian Gilliam, commanding officer of the Salvation Army of Hendersonville.
The closing of the Brooklyn Avenue store has the following impacts:
• Effective immediately, donated goods of clothing and bric-a-brac and household goods will not be accepted.
• Donation pick-up service by The Salvation Army will be suspended on March 7.
• Family Thrift Store operations will end on March 14 at 5 p.m.
• All clothing, household items, and furniture are 50% off now through the store closing on March 14.
• Families who need clothing and household goods assistance through the Family Thrift Store can visit The Salvation Army of Hendersonville at 239 Third Ave E, Hendersonville.
The Salvation Army is looking for a store sales space of at least 6,000 square feet and warehouse space of at least 3,000 square feet. A loading dock would be a plus. The Salvation Army can be reached at 828-693-4181.
