The Henderson County Board of Commissioners moved Monday to allow the borrowing of up to $14,500,000 for the benefit of county-owned Margaret R. Pardee Memorial Hospital.
The management of Henderson County Hospital Corporation proposed the borrowing in order to improve the hospital through renovations and new projects. Proceeds from the loan would pay for:
- Roof replacement on the main Hospital building
- Construction of a parking lot on property on Ninth Avenue and Brown Streets, and the demolition and construction of a new parking lot on the old Emergency Medical Services site on Justice Street. The county EMS no longer needed the hospital-based station when it opened its new headquarters on Asheville Highway.
- Construction of a temporary EMS access and structural improvements to the parking garage
- Maintenance and improvements to the boilers and steam system serving the main building
- Maintenance and improvements to the heating and air conditioning system serving the main building
- Maintenance and improvements to the chilled water system and plumbing serving the main building
