Golden LEAF Foundation helps city extend utilities to Garrison Lane site

The Hendersonville City Council adopted a Grant Project Ordinance Thursday evening for the Golden Leaf Water and Sewer Project, which extends water and sewer lines to the new Garrison Lane industrial site. The new facility at that site is being developed by Jabil Inc., which is building a plant that will specialize in the company's growing business in diabetes care products.

“The grant will cover the design, permitting and construction of approximately 3,800 linear feet of 8-inch water lines to feed and provide fire flow/pressure for the Garrison Lane industrial site," the city said.

Extending utilities is projected to cost approximately $800,000. Of that, $560,00 is expected to come from the Golden LEAF Foundation; its Board of Directors has approved the funding. The remainder will be pulled from Water and Sewer Capital Reserve Fund.

Additionally, the City of Hendersonville and Henderson County Partnership for Economic Development have partnered to seek funding from the NCDOT to construct the Commercial Boulevard Extension streets in the Garrison Industrial Park. If th request is denied, the partners will raise funds to complete the street extension.
