Mary Alice Brauer, 91 of Fletcher, fell asleep in Jesus on Friday, July 31, 2015 at The Laurels of Hendersonville. Born to missionary parents, she lived in many places around the world, including Southern California, Denver, Colorado and the Shenandoah Valley, VA. She was a secretary to Seventh-Day Adventist Conference Officials. She and her husband lived for over 14 years in Egypt and Lebanon as missionaries of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
She was a member of Mills River Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Alice played piano, was a wonderful cook, loved her flower gardens, and took great delight in her family.
She was preceded in death by a grandson Joel Brauer.
Surviving is her husband of 68 years, Carroll V. Brauer; sons Robert C. Brauer and wife Lesli of Mankato, Minnesota, James L. Brauer and wife Janelle of Tucson, Arizona, Ronald W. Brauer and wife Patti of Frederick, Maryland, and Marvin D. Brauer and wife Judy of Asheville; grandchildren Julienne Brauer, Jonathan Brauer, Adrienne Luzados, William Brauer, Cassandra Krause, Bryceton Brauer, Sashenka Brauer and Rachel Brauer; two great-grandchildren Gabriel and Jaden; and her sister Jeanne Barron of Nampa, Idaho.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday at Mills River Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Her sons, Robert C. Brauer and James L. Brauer will officiate. The family will receive friends from noon until 2pm prior to the service in the church. Margaret Jackson Harloam, 71, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, July 28, 2015 in Clearwater, S.C.
She was born September 29, 1943 in Henderson County, NC, the daughter of the late Corbett and Geneva Jackson. Besides her parents, Margaret was pre-deceased by her husband of 42 years,, Lewis Harloam, who died in 2014, a sister, Jeanette Duncan, and two infants siblings.
She was of the Baptist Faith.
She graduated from East Henderson High School in the class of 1961. In spite of a lifetime of health issues, she was optimistic, and persevered over many obstacles . She loved her family dearly and cherished time spent with them.
Survivors include a son, Kevin May of the home, and two grandchildren, Kevin Jr. and Heather; two brothers, Edward Jackson (Priscilla) of Belton, S.C. and Thomas Jackson (Lucille) of Mills River, N.C.; three sisters, Clara Mann (Jim), Ruth Chilen and Sharon Jackson all of Flat Rock, N.C.
John P. “Jack” Holton Jr., 76 of Hendersonville, NC passed away Monday, July 27, 2015 at his home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John P. Holton Sr. and Lucille May Harris Holton, his wife, Elizabeth Minchin Holton and a step-son, Jimmy.
He was born in Morristown, NJ and had lived in Henderson County since 1982. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, served in the Vietnam War and was very proud to have been a Paratrooper.
He was a member of the Henderson County Disabled American Veterans Chapter #14.
He retired from Manual Woodworkers in Saluda after 10 years of service.
He is survived by a daughter, Jacinda Helton of Stanley, NC; four stepchildren, Wendy, Wanda, Critsey and Bob; nine grandchildren, Levi, Patrick, Briar, Adam, Nellis, Hallam, Crissy, P.J. and Christopher; and two great grandchildren, Melody and Jacob.
At Jack’s request there will be no service.

Ruth Owenby, 89, of Bat Cave passed away Monday, July 27, 2015 at Life Care Center of Hendersonville. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Annie Bailey. She was also preceded in death by her husband Paul Owenby and daughter Linda Hyder. Survivors include her children Margaret Howard (Homer), Myron Owenby, Carolyn Shaunessy and JoAnn Garrett (Kim); 7 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held Thursday, July 30, 2015 at 11:00am at Broad River Baptist Church. Family will receive friends afterwards.

Pamela Blythe, 62, of Asheville, passed away, Friday, July 24, 2015. Forest Lawn Funeral Home Hendersonville is assisting the family.
Martha (Bowers) Toce, age 84, of Hendersonville, NC, formerly of Newington, Connecticut, passed away on July 21, 2015.
Martha graduated from Mechanicsburg High School. She was a key punch supervisor before becoming a loving mother and homemaker. She loved gardening, owls, butterflies, square dancing, and was always ready for a rousing game of cards with her family and friends.
Martha is survived by her three loving daughters, Jennifer Byington, Judy MacDougall, and Jean McCauley; her three sons-in-law, Robert, Dave, and Kevin, respectively; and her eight grandchildren, Caitlin, Evie, Carolyn, Sam, Margaret, Katherine, Lauren, and Kevin Jr., as well as her brother, Raymond “Bud” Bowers.
Martha was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Gerry, and her two sons, Jeffrey and James. Funeral services will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Rocky Hill, Connecticut on Friday, July 31, 2015.

Victor Jan Ross was born May 16th, 1955 and passed away July 19th,2015. In his much too short life, he touched the lives of many. He was a loving husband, son, brother, and uncle, and his dear friends can attest to the light he brought to those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his sister Paula, his niece Carolyn, his best friend John and many other friends, both old and new. His gentle spirit and irreverent sense of humor will be missed by all.

Ritchie D. Morgan, 58, of Milford, DE, formerly of Henderson County, passed away Monday, July 20, 2015 at Charles George VA Medical Center after a brief illness. He was a son of the late J.C. Morgan and Jane Morgan Myers of Hendersonville and the late Robert Ray Myers.
Ritchie was a graduate of T.C. Roberson High School and Delaware Technical Community College. He was a lead gaming technician with Dover Downs Hotel and Casino. He was a staff sergeant with the Air Force with thirteen years of service. Ritchie was a member of the First Baptist Church of Milford. Ritchie was an avid NASCAR fan, NFL football, and UNC basketball fan. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, James Isaac and Cora Finger Gilliland.
We are eternally grateful that God blessed us with Ritchie. His laughter and love will forever live in our hearts.
Survivors include his loving wife of eight years, Patricia Morgan; a daughter, Tara Morgan Hill and her husband Trey of Fletcher; sons, Robert Morgan of Milford, DE; Tyler Morgan and his wife Kristina of Mountain Home, Idaho, Lawrence Stockman and his wife Maggie of Rowlett, TX; grandchildren, Caitlyn and McKenna Creasman, Cole Hill, Michael Ivie, Caleb Morgan, Lawrence Anthony Stockman, Adam Stockman, Ethan Stockman; a sister, Wanda Morgan Gant and her husband Mark of Etowah, a brother, Robert Wayne Morgan and his wife MaryAnn of Etowah; niece, Ashley Clark and her husband Matt; great-niece, Amy Clark; nephew, Alan Morgan; great-nephew, Isaac Morgan; several cousins, an aunt and an uncle.
A funeral will be at 11:00 am Saturday, in the Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Anthony Craver officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Military honors conducted by Shaw Air Force Base. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11am, prior to the service in the chapel.

Magoline Sally Gaddy Newman, 97 of Hendersonville, died Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Carillon Assisted Living. Born in Burnsville, NC she was a daughter of the late William and Rose Hensley Gaddy. She retired from Magnavox and was a member of Refuge Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Vance Newman.
Surviving is a son William “Bill” Newman; granddaughter Vanessa Moffitt and her husband Dennis; sisters Emma Lou Morrow, Dot Gosnell, Peggy Smith and her husband Wayne, and June Gaddy Cawthorn and her Husband, Eugene; brother Larry Gaddy; five great grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00pm on Friday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Rev. Dan Blackwell will officiate. At other times, the family will be at the residence on Chestnut Gap Rd. Maude Ann House, age 71 of Flat Rock died Sunday, July 5th, 2015 at her residence. She was born in San Antonio, Texas on October 10th, 1943, a daughter of the late Orinthal and Lena Halford Fields Hatfield. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Lee House who died in 2010; and by her two sons, Jerry Mitchell Colson and Richard Allen Colson.
Mrs. House was employed with the Orange County School system in Florida for many years; and she later moved to North Carolina to be close to her son.
She is survived by her two sons, Robert House and his wife, Christina of Flat Rock, and James Joseph Colson and his wife, Patts of Deland, FL; her grandchildren, Donn Nicholas Leatherman and his wife, Claudia of Pensacola, FL, Jake Kennedy of Asheville, Austin House of Flat Rock, Steven House of Flat Rock, and Ashley House of Asheville; and her two great-grandchildren, Christian Leatherman and Jasmin Leatherman.
Services will be private.

Norma S. Dalcin, longtime resident of Maryland died Saturday, July 18, 2015 at The Elizabeth House. She is survived by her son Stephen Dalcin and his fiancée Aimee Lake and their three children of Hendersonville.

Edward “Joe” Thomas was granted his angel wings peacefully in his sleep on July 18, 2015. His final days were spent in his home surrounded by his family, friends, and his beloved dog, Kiera.
A native of Swain County, he was born August 4, 1941 to the late Lamar and Mary Manor Thomas. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, George, Andrew, and Elbert Thomas; and sisters, Ollie Williamson, Lucille Burris, and Mary Ellen Sawyer.
Joe was very proud of his 10 years of service in the U.S. Air Force. He would always tell his daughter, “I just love people,” and that was evident to anyone who met him. He loved to make people laugh. He enjoyed cooking and playing golf with his buddy, Terry.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Nellie Cline Thomas; his daughter, Kerston Vaugh who he called everyday just to tell her he loved her; son-in-law, Brint Vaughn, who he thought of as his own son; granddaughter, Sierra Vaughn, who you would know all about the first minute you met him because she was the person who he was most proud of in his life; brothers, Vincent (Peggy), Gordon (Mildred), and Freddy; sister, Helen Harris; sisters-in-law, Amy Taylor “Sis” and Katherine Thomas; and a number of nieces and nephews who he loved very much.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Thomas Chapel Cemetery in Bryson City with Rev. Mike Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00pm, Tuesday, in the Kirby Memorial Chapel of Shuler Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Brint and Kerston Vaughn.

Ervin Cornell Earley, of Hendersonville, NC passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at his home.
He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and had served as a Merchant Marine for over 20 years.
He is survived by a sister, Thelma Roland of Westland, MI; a
brother, Norman Earley of Coco Beach, FL; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Early
of Marion, NC and various nieces and nephews.

Benjamin “Bud” Elden Hadley, Jr., 79, of Hendersonville passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at the Elizabeth House in Flat Rock.
Born in Columbia, SC, Bud was the son of the late Benjamin Elden Hadley, Sr. and Ira Kathryn Hadley. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Carroll Hadley.
He attended Southern Missionary College and was a member of Hendersonville Seventh-day Adventist Church. Before retiring, he was the owner of Window and Door Specialties.
Mr. Hadley is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Kathy Hadley of Hendersonville; daughter, Beth Stone and husband, Craig, of Apison, TN; sons, Craig Hadley of Charleston, SC; Brett Hadley and wife, Miranda, of Lincoln, NE; Michael Hadley of Hendersonville; and Matthew Hadley of Collegedale, TN; and grandchildren, Hadleigh Stone, Cassidy Stone, Taylor Stone and Aspen Hadley.
A memorial service will be held at 6 PM Saturday, July 25, 2015 at the Hendersonville Seventh-day Adventist Church. The family will receive friends from 5 – 6 PM in the church’s Family Life Center.

Carroll Constant, 69, of Hendersonville, NC passed away Tuesday,
July 14, 2015 at his home after a long illness.
Mildred Jones, 88, of Flat Rock passed away Monday, July 13, 2015 at Pardee Hospital. A native and lifelong resident of Henderson County, she was a daughter of the late Montraville and Celia Patterson Jones. She was also preceded in death by seven sisters, Blanche Smith, Estelle Osteen, Edith Osteen, Gladys Jones, Sue Jones, Jeanette Jones, Mary Ellen Jones; 3 brothers, M.L. Jones Jr., Powell Jones, and Charles Jones.
She was a graduate of Flat Rock High School, and was employed with Spinning Wheel Rugs for forty years. She was a member of the Hendersonville Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Survivors include a number of nieces and nephews, and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 AM Thursday, July 16, 2015 in the chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Rev Carl Osteen officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Mafalda "Fifi" Abrams made her transition on Thursday July 9th. She was a loving mother, devoted wife, infinitely generous, and exceptionally kind. People knew Fifi as a charismatic woman of power with an authentic reverence for life. She had an angelic soprano voice, and one of her greatest joys in life was to sing operatic arias. She touched the heart of whoever she met, and she will be missed by many. Fifi joins her eldest son Richard Fogleman who made his transition in 2005. She is survived by her daughter Christine Lockhart, her son Tony Fogleman, grandchildren Matthew Fogleman and Celeste Lockhart, and great grandchildren Aidan Fogleman, Noah Fogleman, Daniel Hawn, and Josiah Hawn. A memorial service to honor her life will be held at the Center for Spiritual Living in Asheville on July 26th.
George Bennett Herrin, 70, of Hendersonville passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at the Elizabeth House. He was the son of the late Clara Fletcher and Wilford H. Herrin. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Betty Ann Stimson.
Mr. Herrin was a member of Upward Christian Fellowship Church. He retired from Meritor and was a former owner of Palms Tanning Salon. George enjoyed fishing and was an avid Kentucky Wildcats fan – Go Big Blue! A loving, selfless and all-round great family man, he was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his loving wife of 17 years, Kathy C. Herrin; two daughters, Becky Brevard Simpson and Crystal Bullock and husband, Ryan, both of Hendersonville; one son, Chris Brevard and wife, Amy, of VA; five grandchildren, Taylor, Jaelon, Haley, Teegan and Lindee; one sister, Jane Herrin of TN; brother-in-law, Jack Stimson; and his special dogs, Urkel and Gracie.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, July 11, 2015 at noon in the Kirby Memorial Chapel of Shuler Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
