Catherine Campbell Cottrell Danos, 70

Catherine Campbell Cottrell Danos, 70, died of natural causes on Nov. 25, 2013 in Hendersonville where she has resided her last several years.

She was born on March 5, 1943, in Baton Rouge, La., to Catherine Campbell and Robert William Cottrell.

She is survived by her former husband, E. Joseph Danos, and four children, Catherine Campbell (Katy) Danos of New Orleans, Eugenie Elizabeth (Gigi) Kessenich of Charlotte, Suzanne Jaime Danos of New York City, and Robert William and Susan King Danos of Hendersonville. She had six grand children who were the light of her life. Leah Catherine, Hannah Elise and Alden Elizabeth Kessenich, and Caroline Marie, Elizabeth Eugenie and Henry Spencer Danos. She is also survived by her brother, William Noah Cottrell, and two beloved first cousins, Walter Thomas Gamard and Elizabeth Gamard Schnieders all of New Orleans.

She was a dancer in the New York City Ballet under the direction of George Balanchine and she founded a classical ballet school in Thibodaux, La., where she taught for many years. Instilling children with a love of the arts was her passion. She was a noted interior designer in New Orleans and Connecticut, before retiring to North Carolina.

The family is immensely grateful to the staff at Cherry Springs Assisted Living and especially, Velma Waters, a dear friend.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Flat Rock Playhouse Youth Theatre where she watched her grandchildren grow, 2661 Greenville Hwy, Flat Rock, NC 28731.

A private burial in New Orleans will be held at a later date.
