Meadows raised less cash than fellow freshmen

Analysis by the Hendersonville Lightning compared U.S. Rep. Mark Meadows fundraising to that of other freshmen.

Freshman U.S. Rep. Mark Meadows raised less money than his peers in the House and has less cash on hand but it may not matter. With filing opening today, Meadows has no opponent in sight for the 2014 election.

Meadows CompareMeadows raised $169,000 in 2013 and spent $91,614, leaving cash on hand of $91,675.

An analysis by the Hendersonville Lightning showed that other representatives in the class of 2012 raised more (and spent more) and had more cash on hand as trhe year ended.

The average raised among the freshmen was $475,000, or $306,000 more than Meadows' total. However, Meadows may have known something that others didn't. So far no well-known opponent from either party has emerged to challenge the first-term Republican from Highlands.
