Mentors & Students Raffle Drawing Winner Announced

HENDERSONVILLE — Henderson County resident Deidre Goldsmith is the winner of "Girl with the Crooked Smile," a batik and ink drawing by artist/mentor Kelly King, in a raffle drawing sponsored by the First Citizens Bank.

 

The artwork was shown and selected from Art Teachers Create, the second of three exhibitions included in the Mentors & Students series which First Citizens Bank co-hosted with the Arts Council of Henderson County. Kimbela McMinn represented First Citizens Bank in presenting the artwork to the winner on Tuesday, April 17. Artist Kelly King, whose artwork was purchased by First Citizens Bank for the free raffle drawing, is a teacher at West Henderson High School.

 

Mentors & Students consisted of three exhibitions featuring art from Henderson County's public, private, parochial and home school students and teachers. All exhibitions and events were held at First Citizens Bank at 539 N. Main St., Hendersonville, NC. Raffle entries were collected during Art Teachers Create and during Artists of Tomorrow, the secondary student show, which closed the series on Friday, April 13. Art of Our Children, the elementary student exhibit, was the first of the exhibitions starting on Feb. 17].

Mentors & Students was sponsored in part by First Citizens Bank, Henderson County Education Foundation, Dr. Minor F. Watts Fund, and WTZQ AM1600.
