Fourth of July celebration includes bluegrass, rock'n'roll and fireworks

A big fireworks celebration will be the grand finale to a special Fourth of July celebration in downtown Hendersonville.

The Henderson County Tourism Development Authority and Henderson County Parks and Recreation are teaming up and expanding this year’s event to four blocks of Main Street from Second Avenue to Caswell Street. The Music on Main on the Fourth of July Celebration Concert will feature the popular band Dashboard Blues playing classic rock on the Visitor Center stage. They will perform such perennial favorites as Day Tripper, Margaritaville, Ain’t No Sunshine, Drive My Car, Stand by Me and How Sweet It Is.

The celebration also features a bluegrass concert by Lynn Goldsmith & the Jeter Mountain Band in front of the Historic Courthouse. Hosted by the county Rec Department, the event includes games, face painting, craft corner, inflatables, food trucks and more starting at 7 pm. The activities will be held between First Avenue to Allen Street.

The fireworks show starting at 9:30 p.m. will be synchronized to music on radio station WTZQ-1600 AM and 95.3 FM. Additional Music on Main seating will be available between Allen and Caswell Streets. Concessions will be available.

The Fireworks may be viewed from downtown Hendersonville and the south side of town near the intersection of Greenville and Spartanburg highways. A large red balloon will be launched the morning of the Fourth to signify the visibility of the fireworks show. If you can see the "Big Red Balloon" you can see the fireworks. The fireworks launch site is off of South Grove Street.

Concert seating area opens at 5:30 p.m.; early admission is prohibited. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be postponed for an hour; if the weather doesn’t improve by 8 p.m. the show will be canceled. No alcoholic beverages, backpacks or coolers are allowed.
