A 38-year-old motorcyclist died of injuries suffered in a crash on the Blue Ridge Parkway on Saturday, the National Park Service reported.
Parkway dispatchers received a report at 9:30 a.m. Saturday of a crash involving a motorcycle near Milepost 398 about 10 miles north of Mount Pisgah. When rangers arrived on the scene, they saw a motorcycle lying on its side near the guard rail. The operator of the motorcycle, Shawn Emory of Weaverville, was transported to a local hospital where he later dies of his injuries.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Emory was traveling southbound in an uphill curve when he lost control and overcorrected. The motorcycle left the road and struck the guard rail. Emory was ejected from the motorcycle and suffered serious injuries.
