A 66-year-old Florida woman died Friday afternoon after the motorcycle she was riding crashed on the Blue Ridge Parkway, the National Park Service said.
Blue Ridge Parkway rangers and local fire and rescue responded to a serious motorcycle crash near mile post 325 on the Blue Ridge Parkway at 2:16 p.m. At the scene responders found the driver injured and the passenger dead. The deceased was identified as Loretta Stevenson, of Glen St. Mary. The driver, Edward Stevenson, 65, also of Glen St. Mary, was transported to Mission Hospital for evaluation.
The Parkway was closed for approximately two hours. The investigation of this incident is ongoing.
