Two shot dead in domestic violence in Flat Rock

FLAT ROCK — Two people were shot dead Sunday night in what the sheriff described as a domestic disturbance in the Beaumont subdivision off Kanuga Road, the Henderson County Sheriff's Office said.

The sheriff's office received a 911 call at 9:32 p.m. regarding an assault and shots fired at 39 Beaumont Drive. Deputies arrived at the home to find two people fatally shot. Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit arrived and a person of interest was taken into custody Sunday night.

The preliminary investigation indicates that this was an isolated incident resulting from a domestic disturbance, the sheriff's office said. Sheriff Lowell Griffin said in a news release that the shooting appeared to be an isolated incident and there was no threat to the community. Griffin was to provide more details at a news conference at 11 a.m. Monday.

The 1.86-acre lot at 39 Beaumont Drive contains a 3,638-square-foot home built in 2003 and valued on the tax books at $486,000, records show.
