The League of Women Voters of Henderson County along with Common Cause will host the program Democracy Challenges and Priorities at 11 a.m. Friday, July 21, at Agudas Israel synagogue, 505 Glasgow Lane.
Guest speaker Bill Sederburg, Common Cause N.C. Advisory Board member, and local League Voter Services Chair Lynn McFarland will provide information on up-to-the-minute legislative changes and challenges facing all North Carolinians.
Both organizations are celebrating anniversaries this year. Common Cause N.C. celebrates 50 years "holding power accountable," and LWVHC marks 60 years of "Empowering Voters, Defending Democracy." Attendees will learn what the two organizations are currently doing to protect and encourage the vote and what individuals can do to support our democracy. The event is free and open to the public.
