Open Arms Pregnancy Center names new director

Stacy Bishop

Open Arms Pregnancy Center has announced the appointment of Stacy Bishop as its new executive director.

A longtime supporter and board member of the ministry, Bishop steps into this role with a deep sense of purpose and a heart for serving women and families with compassion and faith.

“For nearly three years, I have had the privilege of serving on the board at Open Arms,” Bishop said. “I have always felt there was a deeper level of service for me to fulfill within the ministry. Supporting and protecting life through the love of Christ has long felt like my calling, and I now see this as a fulfillment of that purpose.”

Bishop is well known in the community through her years as co-owner of Hendersonville Tents, where she led operations and built strong community partnerships. She also founded Engaging Hope/Women of Warfare, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering women and serving underserved communities through faith-based outreach.

Founded in the 1990s, Open Arms Pregnancy Center offers free and confidential support for pregnancy-related needs, from unplanned pregnancies and material assistance to guidance after the loss of a child. The Center’s mission reflects its name and heart: “Open Arms’ ministry is love; the aim is to support and guide, the purpose is to serve God and preserve life.”

Bishop said that education and awareness will remain central to the center’s mission.

“Many people do not know that we offer Abortion Pill Reversal, which gives women who have taken the abortion pill an opportunity to reverse its effects and continue their pregnancy,” Bishop said. “We want to share that message of hope with our community, that there are still options, and help is available.”

Bishop expressed gratitude for the strong support Open Arms receives from area churches, whose volunteers, prayers and generosity sustain the ministry’s work.

“Henderson County churches have been vital in supporting the mission of Open Arms,” she said. “I hope to continue strengthening those relationships and to connect with local ministry leaders to help educate and equip congregations to walk alongside families in need.”

Looking ahead, Bishop said she is encouraged by the community’s shared commitment to preserving life and providing care.

“Our clients may not be ready to walk into a church, but they come to us, and we can meet them where they are, offering hope when life feels hopeless,” she said.

Board chairman Bill Michael said: “It has been a blessing to serve alongside Stacy these past three years and witness her heart for this ministry. Her love for people and her unwavering faith make her the right person to guide Open Arms into its next chapter.”
