Hendersonville teenagers charged with burglaries

Henderson County sheriff's deputies arrested two Hendersonville teenagers and charged them in connection with several house burglaries committed in recent weeks.

 Charged with multiple counts of breaking and entering, larceny, possession of stolen property were Collins Levi Gibbs, 16 of 714 Gold Finch Drive, and Byron Hutcheson Merritt, 18 of 1219 Chanteloup Drive. Gibbs was charged with three counts of felony breaking and entering, three counts of felony larceny and one count of felony possession of stolen property. Merritt was charged with three counts felony breaking and entering, three counts  of felony larceny, two counts of felony possession of stolen property and one count of felony obtaining property by false pretenses.

Officers recovered nearly $10,000 in stolen property and returned it to the victims, the sheriff's department said in a news release.  Gibbs remained in the Henderson County Sheriff's Office under $120,600 secured bond while Merritt was held under $173,500 secured bond.

The two teenagers face charges from the Hendersonville Police Department for similar offenses, the sheriff's department said. More arrests are expected as the investigation continues, the news release said.
