City may annex Upward Road lot

An Asheville couple is seeking to annex a .4-acre lot on Upward Road near East Henderson High School into the city of Hendersonville.

Peter A. and Monica M. Thom have asked for the annexation and city zoning of commercial highway mixed use. Like the county designation of community commercial zoning, the city zoning would allow a variety of business and retail uses, including restaurants, carwashes, stores and light manufacturing. The vacant property is valued at $39,800.
The Hendersonville City Council will hold a hearing on the annexation and rezoning on Thursday.
