D.A. affirms no-charge call in gun shots

EAST FLAT ROCK — Henderson County sheriff's deputies filed no charges after shots broke out in a fight among four people, sending one to the hospital with a gunshot to the gut.

 

Officers responded at 5:38 p.m. to reports of a right at 1166 Brooklyn Avenue in East Flat Rock. When officers arrived they found Fabian Serna, 25, had been shot in the abdomen. He was immediately transported by ground ambulance to Mission Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery. His condition was not available at this time.

Officers identified Colby West, 20, as the probable shooter . After detectives interviewed him, they decided not to charge him, at least for now. Officers were able to establish that a fight had taken place between four individuals at the residence and it escalated to the point gunfire. The investigation is continuing. The results will be turned over to the District Attorney's Office, which will determine whether charges will be brought.
