Mills River man charged with abuse of Doberman pincer

Christopher Hall

Henderson County sheriff's deputies charged a Mills River man with cruelty animals after they found a malnourished Doberman pincer at his home.

The deputies were at a residence on Warlick Road attempting to serve process on an individual for a non-animal related issue on Jan. 15 when they observed an extremely malnourished Doberman Pincher tied to a tree in the front yard, the sheriff's office said in a news release. The dog was severely underweight and emaciated.

Animal enforcement deputies were immediately called to the residence. Based upon their investigation, deputies charged Christopher Hall, 37, with a felony count of cruelty to animals and a misdemeanor count of child abuse based upon the conditions of the home where a minor child was living. After his arrest, Hall was released on a $3,000 bond. The dog was relinquished to the Henderson County Animal Shelter for adoption and has responded extremely well to treatment and veterinary care, the sheriff's office said.
