Ahmad Jarrar, a 2013 graduate of Hendersonville High School and sophomore forward for the (Toldeo, Ohio) Owens Community College men's soccer team, has been named the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference player of the week. Jarrar produced three goals and three assists last week, including two goals and an assist in an OCCAC win over Lakeland Community College last Wednesday. In the game against Lakeland, Jarrar assisted on the game's first goal with a great through pass to Jamison Foos. He then scored back-to-back goals to put the team up four just minutes into the second half. Jarrar closed the week with one goal and two assists in a 6-1 win over Mercyhurst North East Community College on the road. Jarrar has nine goals and eight assists this year. He is second on the team in scoring. In OCCAC play, he leads the team in scoring with five goals and one assist. Read Story »
The Henderson County Board of Commissioners rejected a request by the county's Department of Social Services to allow the marketing of the Afford Care Act at the county's Human Services Building, saying the practice would violate a county policy against commercial sales on county property.
