Water line work will close Sandburg hikers' lot Wednesday

Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site will conduct a maintenance project on water lines running underneath Carl Sandburg Lane on Wednesday, March 16. Due to the work, the Hikers’ Parking Lot and Carl Sandburg Lane will be closed.

There will be no parking allowed in the Hikers’ Lot, no accessible parking in the park’s core or pedestrian or vehicle access along Carl Sandburg Lane. Visitors should only use the Front Lake parking lot, located on Little River Road across from the Flat Rock Playhouse, to access the park on Wednesday. Upon arrival to the Front Lake parking lot, visitors who need additional help to access the park’s core should call 828-707-8125. This number is also posted at the accessible parking spaces.
