Hang on to your hat: NWS issues wind advisory

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory from noon today until 2 a.m. Wednesday with the potential for gusts of 40-50 mph in higher mountains.

"High pressure building into the mountains from the west behind a departing cold front will generate very windy conditions across the higher terrain this afternoon and evening," the advisory said.

The strongest winds will occur this afternoon and evening. Winds will subside overnight.

Rain will continue today until about 1 p.m., the weather service said. The high should reach 47 before falling to around 38 by sunset and 24 overnight. Wednesday should be sunny with a high of 48.
