Security camera gets good images of bad guys

A security camera recorded a robbery at EL Chapulin store on Old Spartanburg Road.

A security camera recorded images of an armed robbery at a convenience store on 1726 Old Spartanburg Road and investigators are asking for help in identifying the robbers.

The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office said the two men walked into the El Chapulin convenience store located at 1726 Old Spartanburg Road at 8:57 Friday night and brandished a handgun.

"The responding officers were told by the clerk that two Hispanic males had entered the store and while purchasing some items robbed him at gun point," a news release said. "The clerk told officers once the weapon was displayed the two suspects took him to the rear of the store, tied him up and proceeded to take an undetermined amount of money from the register along with several other items from the business."

Witnesses told investigators the suspects drove an older model Ford Explorer (dark in color, possibly black or  blue) with South Carolina license plates. The SUV was last observed turning onto Upward Road from Spartanburg Highway.

The Sheriff's Department asked that anyone who has information about the robbery incident or the identity of either suspect contact Detective Johnny Duncan at 828-697-4911.
