Marshall man wanted after high-speed chase

James Robert Boone

Henderson County sheriff’s deputies are looking for a 31-year-old Marshall man who drove away from officers and led them on a high-speed chase before getting away.

Deputies responding to a call about a disturbance in Fletcher encountered James Robert Boone in his vehicle and while speaking to him determined he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Boone refused officers' commands to exit his vehicle and proceeded to drive away from officers, striking one officer with his vehicle. The officer was not injured.

Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop as Boone turned onto the roadway. When Boone refused to stop, a vehicle pursuit ensued and drove into Buncombe County. The chase continued to Interstate 40 where an attempt to deploy stop sticks was unsuccessful. Due to the reckless nature of Boone’s driving officers terminated the vehicle pursuit on Interstate 40, the sheriff's office said. Warrants have been issued for Boone for felony assault with a deadly weapon on a government official, felony fleeing to elude arrest, resisting a public officer and misdemeanor assault on a government official.
