Jerry Truhlar, 95, of Hendersonville passed away Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, at Carolina Village.
He was a native of New York City and was a son of the late Jaroslav and Anna Truhlar. He was a resident of Henderson County for more than 20 years.
While serving in the Army, Office of Secret Service, he was based in India. Mr. Truhlar graduated from Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute with a BS in engineering. He was an electrical engineer and was employed by National Broadcasting Corporation before retiring.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Gladys Truhlar, sons; Mark Truhlar and wife, Kathleen Schader, Gary Truhlar, and Richard Truhlar and wife, Mary; grandchildren, Gregory Truhlar and wife, Lilly, Laura, Allison, Brian and Michael Truhlar.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, in the Kirby Memorial Chapel of Shuler Funeral Home with Father Alex Viola officiating. Burial will be held at a later date.

John "Jack" Veitch, 79, of Hendersonville died on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, at the Elizabeth House.
A native of Chicago, he was born on March 9, 1934, to the late John and Elizabeth Veitch. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Merl Jean Veitch.
He attended St. Thomas College in Minnesota before serving his country in the United States Army in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a manufactures representative in electronics. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, enjoyed playing golf, traveling, listening to music and his cheering on his two beloved Chicago teams, the Bears and the White Sox.
He is survived by his wife, Valerie Veitch of Hendersonville; his two sons, Thomas Veitch and his wife, Linda, of Aurora, Ill., John Veitch and his wife, Kristin, of Oswego, Ill.; his nine grandchildren; his sister, Barbara Marshall and her husband, Robert, of La Grange, Ill; his step-children, Kelly Curley and her husband, Tim, Patrick McCauley and his wife, Heather, Michael McCauley; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Greg Williams and Pastor Ken Langsdorf officiating.

Fred H. King, 87, of Hendersonville died Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013.
He was a son of the late Will and Carrie King and husband of the late Frances Pool King, his wife of 59 years
Mr. King served in the Army during World War II and graduated from Western Carolina University. He was a high school teacher and coach at Andrews High School, Marion Junior High School, Old Fort High School, Cherryville High School and East Henderson High School, retiring in 1984. Mr. King had resided in Henderson County for 40 years.
He is survived by his children, Douglas King and wife, Susan; Donna King; David King and wife, Linda; and Dennis King; grandchildren, Jared King and wife, Shawna; Kristin Kirby and husband, Todd; Tonya Turner; and Greg Gilbert; and great-grandchildren, Joshua King, Joseph King, Samantha King, Dustin Callahan and wife, Danika, and Laci Turner and husband, Chris.
The family will receive friends from 2 – 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3 at Shuler Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, at the West Marion United Methodist Church (632 Stroud Street, Marion, NC). The Reverend Philip Steppe will officiate. Burial with Military Honors will follow the service in the church cemetery.

Ronnie S. Huntley, 76, of Hooper's Creek died Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, in his home.
He was a native of Henderson County. He was the son of the late Frank and Florence Huntley.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Linda W. Huntley; two sons, Steve Huntley and wife Beverly, Stan Huntley and wife Vivian; daughter Kim Banks and husband Tim; four grandchildren, Andy and Alex Banks and Amanda and Amber Huntley; two great grandchildren, Cassidy and Megan Banks and sister, Shirrey Devinney and husband Richard.
Services will be held Sunday, November 3, 2013 at 3 p.m. at Fletcher First Baptist Church. The Rev. Roy Waldroup and Rev. Richard Merck will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hooper's Creek Church Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Henderson County Honor Guard. The Patriot Guard Riders will be escorting Ronnie from the church to the cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church.
